Legion Of Mary
Legion of Mary is an Association of Lay Catholics who one day gathered under the inspiration of Holy Spirit. The First enrolment of legionaries of Mary took place at Myria House, Francis Street, Dublin Ireland at 8. pp pm on 7th September 1921 in Eve of Feast of Our Lady’s Nativity Founder by Frank Duff in 1921.
Firstly, Legion of Mary came into Africa in 1933 shortly afterward. Bishop Moynah established the Praesidium in Nigeria at Calabar. In 1934 Legion of Mary was formed in Igbo land at Aguleri, home town of Blessed Cyprian Michael Iwene Tansi, through the effort of Rev. Fr. Ronayne, in 1937 first curia was formed, Our Lady Queen of Peace Curia at Holy trinity Cathedral Onitsha.
INTRODUCTION
The first Legion of Mary – in Holy Sprirt Parish was Our Lady Queen of Apostles Praesidium in 24th of August, 1901.
COMPOSITION
Our Lady Queen of Apostles Curia is made up of 11 seniors. Praesidium with total of 125 legionaries. In addition it has 7 Junior Praesidium with total of 146 Legionaries. It also has 6 Praesidiums in Christ the King College with total of 225 legionaries at outstation, one senior praesidium and one junior praesidium.
